Name: Centennial Memorial
Location: Centenary Square, Parramatta, New South Wales
An unusual mix of architectural styles, mainly Neo-classical but with a tapering central plinth reminiscent of Gothic Revival monuments and the clock housing of an unusual Beaux-Arts design, the Centennial Memorial was designed by the architect Horace Herbert Hollamby in 1887, and the foundation stone was laid by then Mayor of Parramatta Council, Charles J. Byrne, on 27th January 1888.
LSJ Architects undertook restoration and repairs including reinstating missing functions such as lights, working drinking fountains and a weathervane.
National Trust of Australia (NSW) Conservation Built Heritage Award for Restoration.
