Name: Carisbrook

Location: Linley Point Reserve, Lane Cove, New South Wales

The State heritage listed Carisbrook is a sandstone Victorian villa that was constructed by the Brooks family in c1884. The property has been in the ownership of Lane Cove Council since the late 1960s and operates as a house museum.

Located in the rear courtyard is an original sandstone, underground water storage tank that is unusual in having a barrel-vaulted roof.  LSJ prepared the designs for a re-presentation of the cistern via the removal of intrusive fencing and the addition of steel platforms either side to allow for closer inspection, and an accompanying interpretation sign. This work was undertaken with the assistance of a Heritage NSW grant.
